Oncology

The Consultant Oncologist deals with the management and treatment of patients with cancer. They are involved in the use of chemotherapy and radiotherapy to treat and alleviate the effects of cancer.

Consultant Oncologists usually have expertise in specific types of cancers such as breast cancer, skin cancers such as malignant melanomas and squamus cell carcinoma, lung cancer, leukaemias, Hodgkin’s disease, lymphomas, thyroid cancers, bowel cancer, stomach cancer, oesophageal cancer, oral cancer, brain tumours and gynaecological cancers such as cervical cancer and ovarian cancer. Some Oncologists will have particular expertise in childhood cancers.

Most common areas leading to claims of medical negligence:

  • failing to diagnose cancer or misdiagnosis
  • delay in diagnosing cancer leading to delayed treatment and poorer outcome, including reduced life expectancy
  • negligent medical treatment
  • medication issues in chemotherapy
  • failing to report correctly on test results
  • improper tissue and blood sampling, sometimes coupled with inaccurate reading of hospital lab results

Negligence Compensation Claims

Not every death or injury which occurs in conjunction with medical care is the result of medical negligence. Most medical providers are competent, dedicated, and committed professionals.

However, if you are concerned about the medical treatment you have received, then we can arrange for a medical negligence lawyer with expertise in cancer compensation claims to review your case.

Our lawyers have expertise in negligence claims against general practitioners, oncologists, hospitals, surgeons, pathologists and other specialists who have failed to diagnose cancer,  delayed in diagnosing cancer, reported incorrectly on test results, and/or provided inadequate or inappropriate treatment.

If you have suffered from negligence which causes injury or illness, you  may be eligible to file a legal claim to seek compensation for your losses and suffering. Compensation laws vary according to the State you live in. Time limits apply so you need to seek legal advice as soon as possible.
