NAB Customer Response Initiative

Over the last few years, the media has reported on cases involving serious breaches by NAB financial planners, including a small group of NAB advisers who forged clients' signatures. A total of 41 financial advisors were sacked from NAB and its subsidiaries over a 2 year period to 2015, including 8 who were reported to ASIC.

In February 2015, NAB announced the Customer Response Initiative for wealth advice for customers who may have received non-compliant financial advice since 2009. The initiative investigates complaints of professional misconduct and inappropriate financial advice by its wealth advisors.

In a media release by NAB in September 2016, it was reported that "NAB has made $6.5 million in payments to 251 customers after resolving their claims for compensation."

NAB has been contacting some of their customers directly, offering a file review. They also encourage customers who have not been contacted and who feel that have received bad financial advice to contact their Customer Response Initiative for a free review of their file.
