The ENT Surgeon may be known as an Ear, Nose and Throat Surgeon or as an ENT Specialist. They may also be known as an Otolaryngologist or as a Head and Neck Surgeon.

The Consultant ENT Surgeon is a surgeon who specialises in operations and disorders of the ear, nose and throat. The Consultant ENT Surgeon deals with deafness and hearing aid management and is involved with inner ear problems such as tinnitus and balance problems. They may also deal with throat and neck cancer.

They perform operations such as tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy, grommet insertion for glue ear, nasal and sinus operations, throat and larynx operations and operations on the neck.

Examples of clinical areas where some ENT's have failed in their duty of care and provided negligent treatment and/or negligent ENT surgery:

  • Negligently performed tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy
  • Negligent diagnosis and management of throat or neck cancers and acoustic neuromas
  • Negligent management of tinnitus and deafness and other medical conditions

Not every death or injury which occurs in conjunction with medical treatment provided by an ENT surgeon is the result of medical negligence. Most specialists are competent in their field of work. However, if you are concerned about the treatment you received, we can arrange for a medical negligence lawyer to review your case.
